Wild Oat

Botany: Bromus ramosus
Preparation: Sun Method
Represents: Self-Awareness

At the core of every negative wild oat personality is a deep-seated desire for recognition and affirmation. Wild oat people tend to be highly creative souls and if this creativity isn't nurtured and developed early in their childhoods, a negative wild oat state can result.

Negative wild oat people have a strong desire to do something "special" with their lives but they may have great difficulty identifying exactly what their special life purpose is. It is typical for someone in a negative state to have had many different types of occupations, hobbies and interests.

Wild oat people are strong-willed and like to forge their own way in life. Their drive to discover their true purpose often makes them seem self-centered and aloof. People in a negative state have difficulty fitting in and may do or say things that seem to go against the "flow".

But the negative wild oat state also breeds tremendous frustration and a desperate feeling that life is somehow rushing by at breakneck speed. This can encourage negative wild oat personalities to flit from project to project and even from relationship to relationship without realizing how chaotic they seem to others.

Imagine a woman standing in front of a wall of paint chips at a home improvement store. She looks dazed and overwhelmed by the hundreds of choices. She will not only fret over the color; this woman is agonize over the degrees of gloss and whether the paint should be applied with a textured roller or a plain old brush.

Back home, her family waits in a mish-mash of design. Every room is a different color and every rooms reflects a different decorating trend. Some rooms aren't finished at all and most are an eclectic mixture of furnishings. In some rooms, it's obvious the decorating process was stopped mid-stream in favor of a newer, trendier scheme.

This woman is in a negative wild oat state. Her "got-to-try-it-all" attitude toward decorating reflects the agony of choice she feels in every aspect of her life. Her perfectionistic tendencies constantly drive her to achieve but her inability to trust her decision making abilities keep her from ever feeling satisfied.

The Positive Wild Oat State

People in a positive wild oat state have learned to embrace their highly creative nature and embrace their uniqueness. They have spent many hours in self-reflection, know their inner purpose and live it as fully as possible.
