Vine

Botany: Vitis vinifera
Preparation: Sun Method
Represents: Authority

Vine personalities are strong-willed leaders with astounding levels of personal discipline. They are the marathon runners, the corporate presidents and even the dictators of this world. At their core, every vine personality is rooted in a need for authority.

In a positive vine state, these souls are powerful leaders who understand the difference between leadership and tyranny. They are quick thinkers who deal extremely well with crisis situations. They are confident, decisive and ambitious. Because of these qualities, they often ascend the corporate ladder quickly.

However, these folks are always in danger of becoming seduced by their own sense of authority. They revel in being the "saviour" of a situation but have difficulty bowing to the authority of others. At their best, negative vine personalities are seen as insensitive leaders. In their extreme, they become bullies.

Imagine a woman coaching a girl's softball team. Several of the girls have developed batting stances and swings that could only be described as "unique". Surprisingly, for many of the girls, these unorthodox approaches to hitting the ball seem to be working.

The coach has two choices. She can work extensively with the offending girls to "re-train" them or she can work with them to help them further develop and the system that is already working for them. Because our coach is a vine personality, she chooses to see this as a challenge to her authority. She is driven to "correct" the girls' behaviors, despite the hours and hours it will cost her.

This woman is in a negative vine state. She has a "do as I say" approach to her job and anything that goes against that is seen as a show of disrespect. It is a direct challenge to her authority as "boss" of the team.

The Positive Vine State

Those in a positive vine state are strong leaders who also appreciate a spirit of independence in others. In a positive vine state, people encourage others, nurture ambition and support others in their search for their higher purpose.
