Bach Flower Remedies for ADHD

Do Bach flower remedies for ADHD really work? Despite a large clinical study from Europe saying, "No," many parents of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, say, they do.

ADHD is a behavioral disorder most often diagnosed in childhood but which can continue through the teen and even adult years. It's characterized by the inability to maintain concentration, control impulses and focus on the task at hand. Children with ADHD bore extremely easily, tend to be easily distracted and can be quite forgetful.

Sarah Backus, writing for a Bach flower web site, claims that Bach flower remedies saved her son's life. In addition to having ADHD, the child is also bi-polar. By combining mustard, aspen, holly, chicory and vervain, the mother claims, the child was able to abandon 4 of his 6 pharmaceutical medications and had his first near-normal bi-polar cycle in 3 years.

Bach Flower Remedies for "Swine" Flu

Can bach flower remedies really help prevent "swine" flu? Nancy Buono, who is the director at bachflowereducation.com, says they can. She asserts that taking Bach flower remedies is an effective way to reduce fear and "negative" emotions that compromise the integrity of our immune systems.

Buono's personal favorite is the combination known as Rescue Remedy. She recommends taking 2 drops straight from the bottle and repeating up to 6 times per day. For specific worries like the fear of germs, she recommends a remedy made from crab apple; for more general feelings of dread, she recommends aspen.

"Celendine Rose", writing for the UK web site greenwisdom agrees that emotions are the cure to preventing the H1N1 but she recommends mimulus in addition to Rescue Remedy.

3 Ways to Take Bach Flower Remedies

Bach flower practitioners will tell you that there's really no "wrong" way to take the remedies but here are 3 of the most popular:

Taking Bach Remedies via the "Sipping" Method

One of the easiest ways to take Bach flower remedies is to dilute a day's worth of the remedy in a glass of water then sip the water throughout the day. Take care, of course, to store the glass in the refrigerator between sipping episodes.

Taking Bach Remedies via the "Dropper" Method

Perhaps the most popular method of taking Bach remedies is the one known as the "dropper" method. To take remedies this way, drop 2 to 4 drops in a 1 oz. bottle then top off the bottle with "still" spring water. ("Still" water is simply water that is uncarbonated.) Screw on a dropper and store in the refrigerator. Throughout the day, take a few drops on the tongue.

Taking Bach Remedies Neat

Taking Bach flower remedies directly upon the tongue is known as taking them "neat". It is a practice some Bach practitioners look down upon because it can be wasteful and has an element of harshness to it but if you need a quick "shot" of a remedy, taking it undiluted directly upon the tongue may be something to consider.
